Apr 7, 2014

I’ve had enough. I’ve tried counting calories. I’ve upped my activity. And I still haven’t lost any weight, in fact, I gained three pounds. I was really considering going back to Jenny Craig. I’ve used their program in the past and I always lost weight with them. I spoke with my mom, my boyfriend and my good friend about it and they all responded by saying, “Why don’t you make your own pre-portioned meals?” At first I thought it would be too hard. I wanted to take the easy route. But after I thought about it a little more I realized that this is a lifestyle change, not a quick fix. I need to make sure I’m not back in this position a year from now.

I went ahead and listened to the advice of my mom, my boyfriend and my good friend. I decided to meal prep. I went to Costco first. I figured they would have the best prices on meat and produce. (Oh yeah, I am eating meat again.) After Costco I went to Wal-Mart for the remaining items.

My cart at Costco halfway through my trip.

Side note. These are tubs of frosting at Costco. AKA- a fat kids paradise. I hope these are in heaven.

I purchased:
Celery
Asparagus
Red Bell Peppers
Sweet Corn
Blueberries
Bananas
Popcorners
Hummus
Hard Boiled Eggs
Turkey Sausage
Pork Chops
Ground Turkey
Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurts
Light Mayo
Spaghetti Sauce
Sparkling Ice Zero Calories Drinks
Skinny Girl Agave with Stevia Extract

Meal prepping and sippin’ iced coffee. Mmmm!

After a few hours of prepping, I have all of my food ready for tomorrow. I plan on eating:

Breakfast
½ cup Whole Grain Oats
1 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
3 Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Links
1 tbsp Maple Syrup (the real stuff)
½ cup Blueberries
Coffee with ½ cup of Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk

Lunch
4 oz Ground Turkey
½ cup Prego Spaghetti Sauce
2 Hard Boiled Eggs
1 tbsp Kraft Mayo with Olive Oil

Dinner
Pork Chop cooked with Garlic and Salt
2/3 cup Organic Super Sweet White Kernel Corn

Snacks (eaten throughout the day, in between meals)
Apple
Dannon Light & Fit Greek Blend
Bell Pepper
Hummus
Nugo Mint Chocolate Chip Protein Bar
Pro 5 Protein Powder
1 cup of Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk

I LOVE NuGo Bars!!!

All of this comes out to 1,870 calories. According to my goals MyFitnessPal recommends I eat 1,920 calories per day.

I will also continue using my FitBit, which I LOVE. My goal is to walk 10,000 steps daily. I try not to go to sleep until I hit that number. My screen shot below was from Friday, April 4th. I was on fire!!! The next day I weighed myself and I had gained three pounds. Makes absolutely no sense. Reason number 467 why I should not rely on the scale. I know, I know.

I will definitely keep ya’ll updated. Still hoping for that ten pound weight loss by May 31st (Operation Red Bikini). I do have one little thing to add. I went ahead and purchased ground turkey and pork chops instead of chicken breast because I don’t do well with chicken breast over and over again. I want to make sure that I stick with this so I had to go with something I enjoy eating. I don’t believe in depriving yourself. All in moderation.

Quick update on my weekend. I dyed my hair darker. I love the way it turned out but I know it won’t last long. My hair always fades no matter what shade I dye it. Yesterday, my boyfriend, his mom and I went to the Palm Desert Swap Meet. It was so much fun! Pretty warm outside and we did get a little sunburned. Afterwards we showed my boyfriend’s mom around town a bit. I was exhausted. The sun takes a lot out of ya. I also watched the ACM awards. I have one thing to say about that. I love Miranda Lambert.
