Advice to Me

I'm starting to feel 'in the zone' again. I was feeling really out of it and down on myself for a while there but I'm happy to report that I'm back! As of yesterday morning I had completed nine miles for the week. That's crazy for a girl who was starting to hate cardio. I'm loving it again. Just as much as lifting. I'm trying to challenge myself and that's what keeps it interesting. When I think I can't run anymore, I tell myself, "One more minute" and that turns into five minutes or more. It's amazing what your body is capable of. Here I was thinking I needed to do the Couch to 5K program all over again. But nope, my body picked up right where it left off. I'm sure the lifting has a lot to do with that.

Even though I'm back in the zone, I have had moments where I beat myself up. My goal - to lose twenty-eight pounds by my twenty-eighth birthday - has been pushing me, yes. BUT I also feel upset that I have to even do this. The weight I want to be on my birthday in 2015 is the same weight I was on my birthday in 2012. Why did I even allow myself to gain weight in the first place? And why will it take me three years to lose it again? Why can't I stay focused enough to get past this plateau I've been on for so long? These are the questions I constantly ask myself.

This advice that I am about to give is mostly to myself. But I hope you all can take something away from it as well. Life happens. Sometimes it gets in the way of us accomplishing our goals. Sometimes it knocks you down and it takes a while to get back up. BUT the important thing is that you get back up. There are always going to be hard times. Not everyone is going to agree with what you are doing or how you are living your life. You have to do what you feel is right in your heart. And if you have a desire and a dream, go for it. With everything you've got. If that desire and dream stays with you, it's there for a reason.

Moral of the story, it’s okay to have to do something a second time or third time, or even a fourth time. Just don’t ever stop fighting.
