Ten Weeks

How far along? Ten weeks and six days.

Baby's size? Dragon Baby is the size of a kumquat or a LEGO man, which my brother found to be amusing.

Baby's nickname? Still Dragon Baby. I mostly refer to the baby as "baby" though.

Maternity clothes? Not yet.

Exercise? I'm still getting adjusted in my new work schedule but I did manage to go on a walk today!

Sleep: I am getting plenty of sleep because I am ready for bed between 8 and 9 each night. Most nights I am asleep before 9 and I wake up around 6 or 6:30 so I'm getting more than eight hours each night. I am completely okay with that.

Best moment this week: My husband and I found a onesie that we had to purchase. It's for a baby boy and of course, we don't know what we're having yet but it was too cute to leave behind. It was a lot of fun looking through all the baby clothes and shoes with my husband.

Miss anything? I still miss enjoying my coffee. I only drink it now because if not, I will have a killer headache by noon.

Movement: None that I noticed.

Food cravings: Where do I start? I've been craving a lot of sweets like cinnamon rolls, Lucky Charms, and cupcakes. I'm looking forward to eating our cake topper this weekend when we celebrate our first anniversary.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Unfortunately coffee still is. I have been able to get down lattes from Starbucks much easier than my coffee from home. Also, the thought of anything pumpkin makes me feel ill.

Gender: Unknown.

Symptoms: I had a terrible headache a few days this week. I've had a stuffy nose on and off again. And I would consider being ready for bed at 8pm a symptom.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy most of the time. I can't remember any specific times when I was moody this week but maybe I should ask my husband.

Looking forward to: My next doctor's appointment next week. I can't wait to see how much the baby has grown in the last few weeks.

Nine Weeks

How far along? Nine weeks and six days.

Baby's size? Dragon Baby is the size of a southern pecan.

Baby's nickname? Still Dragon Baby. I mostly refer to the baby as "baby" though.

Maternity clothes? Not yet but I did have to get some larger clothes. My pants were getting a little too uncomfortable for my liking.

Exercise? I've been really bad in this area. I haven't even been walking. My goal was to hit 10,000 steps every day during my pregnancy but I've only hit that number twice this week. Once I get settled in my new job, I'll definitely be adding workouts to my schedule.

Sleep: I've been sleeping A LOT. More than eight hours each night. On Friday night, my husband and I slept ten and a half hours. We were in the mountains and we obviously needed to sleep in. It was wonderful!

Best moment this week: It's tough to choose just one. I ended up leaving my previous job and started my new job where I'll be able to work from home. My husband and I also spent this past weekend in Idyllwild.

Miss anything? I miss enjoying my coffee. I still have a hard time with drinking coffee.

Movement: Again, I'll feel butterflies every now and then but I'm not sure if that's the baby or just me thinking too much.

Food cravings: My cravings have switched from savory foods to sweet foods. I've craved ice cream and frozen yogurt, Eggo waffles, pancakes and a Starbucks Frappuccino {even though I'm struggling with drinking coffee}.

Anything making you queasy or sick: My nausea is, for the most part, gone! The only thing still making me queasy is coffee. I'm starting to feel more like myself again.

Gender: Unknown.

I've been tired. I had some lower back pain after walking for a while in Idyllwild on Saturday. I had to go back to the cabin to take a quick nap. After that, my back was fine. I had a toothache for a few days last week and it's gone now. I had terrible acne on my chin this week. Tons of blackheads and a couple whiteheads. Luckily no cystic acne like I used to get before I was pregnant. I've also had a stuffy nose. I've read all of these are completely normal. My friend also told me over the weekend,  "Babies are like parasites. They take everything from you."

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or moody most of the time: I've been pretty happy. I was moody when we were coming home from Idyllwild. I was just so tired and I wanted to be home.

Looking forward to: I find myself always looking forward to my next meal. Not much has changed since pre-pregnancy.

Eight Weeks

{This post was written on October 3rd and was saved as a draft until I was able to catch up on posting all blogs that came before this one.}

How far along? Eight weeks and three days as of today.

Baby's size? Dragon Baby is the size of a raspberry this week.

Baby's nickname? Still Dragon Baby.

Maternity clothes? Not yet.

Exercise? The exercise has slowed down a bit since I've been home from vacation because I've been so exhausted. I'll get back at it though.

Sleep: I've been sleeping pretty well for the most part. I even took naps Saturday and Sunday because I was so tired.

Best moment this week: Officially announcing our pregnancy on social media so now everyone knows! It's slowly becoming more and more real.

Miss anything? I actually don't miss anything right now.

Movement: I feel butterflies in my stomach every now and then but I have no idea if that is the baby or me just thinking about the future.

Food cravings: I was craving the purple or blue bag Skittles this past week. And yes, I did get some finally.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Tons of stuff. But it's hard to keep track because it changes constantly. One day meat will gross me out, the next day I'll be totally fine eating chicken. It's still very difficult to drink my coffee in the mornings but Stephen found me Preggie Pop Drops and those have helped with the nausea.

Gender: Unknown.

Symptoms: Nausea. Stuffy nose, which I read is completely normal with pregnancy. I had a really bad upset stomach last night. I'm not sure if it was from the pregnancy. I don't think it was what I ate because I had a bowl of GoLean for dinner.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy most of the time. I was pretty hangry on Saturday a few times and I took it out on my hubby again. Sorry, babe.

Looking forward to: Going out to dinner with my friend/hairdresser this evening. That should be fun!

Seven Weeks

{This post was written on September 29th and was saved as a draft until we shared our good news with everyone.}

How far along? Seven weeks and six days as of today.

Baby's size? Dragon Baby is the size of a blueberry this week.

Baby's nickname? Still Dragon Baby.

Maternity clothes? Not yet.

Exercise? I've been getting tons of steps this week. At least five miles and over 10,000 steps per day. I definitely reached my 40 mile goal for the month while I was on vacation.

Sleep: I was away from home this past week. Even though it was my brother's home, there is nothing like your own. I don't think I slept nearly as well as I do in my own bed.

Best moment this week: Seeing our baby's heart beat flicker on the screen during our very first ultrasound.

Miss anything? Nope! Not even a second cup of coffee...because I can't seem to even get one full cup down.

Movement: No movement yet.

Food cravings: NONE. Food sounds absolutely gross to me right now.

Anything making you queasy or sick: YES! Anything and everything. And it changes from one minute to the next. Something will sound okay to me to eat and then a minute later, I want to vomit just thinking of it. It's very difficult to get anything that isn't bland down. And like I mentioned above, I have to force myself to drink at least half a cup of coffee in the mornings to prevent a headache in the afternoons.

Gender: Unknown right now.

Symptoms: I'm so thankful that I didn't have any back pain this week. I'm thinking it was all the walking I did while I was on vacation. I have still been gassy at times. Extreme nausea and food aversions. I still haven't thrown up yet so I'm glad about that.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or moody most of the time: I've been happy for the most part. I did cry a lot during movies I watched on my vacation.

Looking forward to: We will be telling Stephen's Grandpa our news tomorrow in person. After that I plan on giving free reigns to the parents to tell who they'd like to tell and I'll be posting our news to social media.

Six Weeks

{This post was written on September 20th and was saved as a draft until we shared our good news with everyone.}

How far along? Six weeks and four days as of today.

Baby's size? Baby is the size of a Ladybug.

Baby's nickname? Still Dragon Baby.

Maternity clothes? Not yet.

Exercise? Still trying to get my 10,000 steps per day in. So far I've missed two days. I made up for one of those days the next day and the second day was last night. I only miss if I'm not feeling well enough to go out. I informed my trainer of my pregnancy so we've dropped the weights a little but still lifting. And he still wants me to get in my 40 miles this month for my half marathon training. So far I am at 16.6 miles so I still have quite a few to go. I'll be on vacation later this week and early next so I'll be sure to catch up then.

Sleep? Saturday morning I was wide awake from 1 am to 3 am. Other than that I've been sleeping pretty well. Going to sleep around 9 and waking up a little before 6. I've been getting in naps on the weekends too.

Best moment this week? Being offered a job that will allow me to work from home. I interviewed prior to finding out I was pregnant. God is so awesome.

Miss anything? Energy in the afternoons and evenings.

Movement? None so far.

Food cravings? I've been craving savory foods. Meat {mostly in the mornings}, potatoes and beans. Sweet foods don't appeal to me right now.

Anything making you queasy or sick? I'm finding that I'll cook something and then it either isn't good at all or I feel sick when I think about eating it. Friday night I couldn't even finish the chicken I made. And Monday night I felt sick when I thought about eating the steak we had leftover from the night before.

Gender? Unknown. I will be thrilled either way.

Labor Signs? None.

Symptoms? Oh, where do I start? Still bloated and gassy but not as bad as last week. Lower back pain. Monday I had a sharp pain hit me in my lower back and it actually took my breath away because of how bad it was. I had heartburn last week for the first time. I had no idea what it was. I just felt cramping and burning and I told my friend what I was feeling and she told me it was heartburn. I hope it doesn't come back because that was awful! All of my symptoms come on in the afternoons and evenings too. I always wake up feeling great.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or moody most of the time? I've noticed some mood swings with my husband. Sorry, babe! But for the most part, I'm in a good mood.

Looking forward to? I'll be on vacation as of Friday! And I'm still looking forward to my first doctor's appointment so we can share our news.

Five Weeks

{This post was written on September 14th and was saved as a draft until we shared our good news with everyone.}

How far along? Five weeks and five days as of today.

Baby's size? Dot snail. So little!

Baby's nickname? Stephen nicknamed the baby Dragon Baby.

Maternity clothes? Not yet.

Exercise? Stephen and I have been taking walks every day. I'm still training for my half marathon but instead of running, I'm getting my miles in by walking. I'm just too exhausted right now to run. Making sure I walk at least 10,000 steps a day. I'm also lifting weights once a week with my trainer.

Sleep? I'm sleeping great, except for the fact that I have to get up and pee seventeen times a night.

Best moment this week? Finding out that I was pregnant and sharing the news with Stephen, family and close friends.

Miss anything? I really thought I'd miss alcohol but I actually don't. But I do miss my afternoon cup of coffee. I ordered a box of decaf K-cups from Amazon and I'm just waiting on them to be delivered. Oh wait! There's my delivery notification!

Movement? None so far.

Food cravings? No major cravings yet. I did want FroYo on Sunday and I wanted my homemade garlic cashew pork with avocado on Monday but I can't say that was the baby that wanted those.

Anything making you queasy or sick? I've had some moments of nausea but nothing too extreme. And no food aversions yet.

Gender? Unknown.

Labor Signs? None.

Symptoms? Very tired. Cramping throughout the day. Bloating and extremely gassy in the evenings. It's keeping me from eating too much at night though!

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or moody most of the time? I've been in a really good mood this week.

Looking forward to? My first doctor's appointment so I can share the news with everyone!

Oh Baby!

On Wednesday, September 7th, I went to see a mid-wife. I had been off the pill since February which means my husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for seven months and we hadn't had any luck yet. I knew I shouldn't be too concerned because I've heard it could take up to a year for your body to adjust after going off the pill. But I still wanted to be proactive and get checked out just in case. The mid-wife did a pap on me and I had some lab work done. While I was there, the nurse said, "Maybe we should do a pregnancy test since you are six days late." I told her, "I actually don't have to pee right now and I can guarantee that I'm not pregnant. I'm always late." Her and the mid-wife agreed that a pregnancy test wasn't necessary. The next day I saw online that all my lab work had come back normal, which meant I had nothing to worry about and now we just needed to continue trying. If five more months went by {meaning a year of trying} and we still weren't able to conceive, I'd have to self-refer myself to their infertility department. I was worried that that day would come but I had faith that God would bless us with a baby when He knew it was the right time.

I went on with my days. Thursday, September 8th I worked out with my trainer and both him and I noticed that I wasn't able to lift as heavy as I normally do. He even asked me if I had eaten enough that day. I told him yes and I didn't know what was going on with me.

Friday, September 9th I worked out with my trainer again. I think I did a little better this time but I had eaten a banana as I was walking into the gym to make sure my body had proper fuel. After my workout, I went home to shower and get ready because I was going over to my parent's house for dinner and drinks. My mom had invited some friends over and wanted me to come as well. Stephen would also be heading there after work.

As I was about to walk out the door, something inside me said, "You should take a pregnancy test." I saw a second faint blue line. I had never seen that before so I texted my friend, who I have known since I was two and who is also pregnant right now.

I had so many emotions running through me. This can't be real. But what if it is? Don't get too excited yet. Stephen's going to freak out. How am I going to tell him? Is this really happening?

I filled up one of my tumblers with water. I got in the car and I drank it as I drove to CVS. I purchased a two pack of pink line First Response tests. After that, I went to Rockin' Jenny's, a local sandwich shop. I had planned on grabbing myself a sandwich for dinner because my dad was making machaca, which I'm not a fan of. I calmly stood in line, ordered my sandwich to-go and then ran to their restroom to take another test. This is what showed up immediately after I peed on it. I texted my friend and told her it must have just been the stupid blue line test. She made a comment that she saw a little pink in there.

After three minutes, this is what the test looked like. I sent her another picture and she said, "Yeah totally looks positive to me! I would avoid drinking if I were you."

So I went to my parent's house with the biggest secret I could ever keep from them. As soon as I walked in, I laid on the couch and said, "I have the biggest headache. I don't think I'll be drinking tonight." I actually had a bit of a headache so I wasn't lying. But I never turn down a drink so I'm sure they thought it was odd.

All of my mom's friends kept asking me when Stephen and I were going to have a baby. It was so hard for me to try to brush the conversation off.

Stephen ate dinner and hung out with my dad when he got to my parent's house. I spent most of my time in the backyard with the ladies. It was extremely difficult to be right next to my husband and not be able to tell him so maybe I tried avoiding him a bit.

When we got home later that evening, we settled in. Stephen had gotten one of his monthly nerd subscription boxes in the mail that day so I gave it to him and he ran into the garage to open it and take pictures. I didn't want to ruin his moment so I waited for him in the kitchen. When he finally came back in I asked how he liked his box and he showed me all the things he got, one of which was a Dr. Who bobble head. He also got a Delorean tshirt and he was already wearing it. When he was done showing me everything I asked, "Can I tell you something?" He said, "Okaaaaaaaaay." I said, "It's not 100% for sure yet but..." and I handed him the two pregnancy tests I had taken earlier that day. He said, "You can't get a false positive, especially on two different tests." I said, "I'm going to take one more test in the morning to be certain." He smiled and hugged me and in that moment, I got choked up. I asked him, "You're not freaking out?" He said, "No." I had always imagined him freaking out when I told him I was going to have a baby because he always needs to think things through and he gets nervous for huge life altering events. But maybe because we had been trying since February, he had time to mentally prepare.

Once we got past the excitement, he started talking about finances and how we needed to up our student loan payments and get our bed paid off and this and that. I was like, "Oh, there you are!"

The next morning, Saturday, September 10th I jumped out of bed a little after 6am to take another test. And there they were, the two most beautiful lines I'd ever seen. I crawled back into bed with Stephen and told him, "You're definitely going to be a daddy" and he hugged me and we laid there taking the moment in.

I feel so extremely blessed. I think it's crazy how I told my nurse that there was no way I was pregnant and then two days later something deep inside me knew that I was pregnant. I know God played a major role in all of this, like every other thing in my life.

{I wrote this post on Tuesday, September 13th but I will be waiting to post it until after I reveal my pregnancy.}
